Congressman Canseco's Statement on Messina's Derogatory Chimichanga Comment

Feb 15, 2012

Washington, DC – Congressman Francisco “Quico” Canseco (TX-23), who proudly represents the 23rd District of Texas and serves as Vice-Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Conference, issued the following statement in response to Jim Messina, President Obama’s 2012 campaign manager, calling an inflammatory statement earlier this morning about Hispanic Republicans the “line of the day”:

“Jim Messina's racially inflammatory statements are not only inappropriate, but they are shameful and condescending. It is obvious the Obama campaign does not understand the complexity of Latino voters. Comments like these add nothing to the debate on the serious issues confronting our country. The President's policies have failed, therefore he cannot run on his record for re-election and is running on the politics of envy and division. I believe Jim Messina owes us all an apology,” said Congressman Francisco “Quico” Canseco, Vice-Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Conference.
